We are collecting items for the canned food drive and food pantry for the Varnell Community Church community Christmas. The bin is set up outside the clubhouse and we will be accepting donations through thanksgiving. See previous post for more details.

November 8: Veterans Day Breakfast from 8:30-10:30 am in the clubhouse. This is for veterans and any residents who would like to come and share in celebrating our veterans. Coffee and breakfast will be provided. 

November 10: Book Club at 7pm in the clubhouse. This months book is over Redemption by Phil Williams. Next month’s book club will meet on Dec 8 and will be over Master Slave Husband Wife: An Epic Journey from Slavery to Freedon by Ilyon Woo. 

November 11: Annual Meeting at the Varnell Methodist Church. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Meeting starts at 7:00 PM.

November 21: Adult Trivia at 7pm in the Clubhouse. Note we are now back to Friday nights. Bring your favorite covered dish and a wealth of knowledge. Come with a team or as an individual! 

November 22: HFLA Tailgate in the field to the left of the pool. Bring your fire pits, tvs and favorite tailgate foods and sport your favorite team for our second annual HFLA Tailgate. Event time TBD and will be posted at a later date.

The Puzzle Club will kick off this month. If you would like to participate, contact Lindsay Greene at 706-508-8976 for more details. 

The Garden Club is asking for volunteers to bring fresh cedar, pine, & magnolia to the area by the gate at pool on Tuesday Dec 2. At 10:00 am on Wednesday the 3rd they will also need volunteers to help wire greenery & hang on street signs, decorating the clubhouse tree, hanging garland & fresh wreathes. This is a big undertaking -they need all the neighborhood volunteers they can get. 

Remember, for the new HFLA website, you must register for a new account! All former accounts were deleted when the new website was made. You cannot just request a new password.

Letters have been mailed regarding the HFLA annual meeting to be held November 11th at the Varnell Methodist Church. Doors will open at 6:30 PM, and the meeting will commence at 7:00 PM. Matters to be brought before the members include:

• 2024 Annual Meeting minutes
• HFLA Board Report of Activities
• Financial/Treasurer’s Report
• 2026 Budget Proposal
• New Business
• Election of Board of Directors

Members in good standing may vote on any matter brought before the assembly. Voting may be done in person at the meeting or by proxy (in mailout). Proxies must be completed and returned by mail on or before the meeting. There are 3 board of director positions up for a vote. The nominations that have been sent in for board of director positions include: John Beazle, Victor Garcia, David Greene, and Drew McAllister (see bios in letter and on Facebook). Nominations may also be made at the annual meeting. Officer positions will be decided after the election by the board of directors.
