The HFLA Annual meeting will be held Tuesday, November 9.  All residents of Highland Forest are encouraged to attend.  One agenda item is the Nomination and Election of Directors.  In even numbered years (Article 4 Section 2 Bylaws) two Directors are elected at the Annual Meeting.  Bylaws Article V. Section 1.  describes the process of nomination for election to the Board of Directors.  According to these governance guidelines, the Nominating Committee is made up of appointees of two or more members of Highland Forest Landowners Association.  The Nominating Committee Chair is a member of the Board of Directors.  The following residents were appointed to the 2022 Nominating Committee:

Hallie Sterrett, Committee Chair
Kermit McManus
Mark Ackerman
Ellen Thompson

The Nominating Committee will present a slate of candidates that have been confirmed and formally reviewed at the Annual Meeting.  Nominations may be made by  residents and submitted to the Committee and nominations may be made from the floor of the Annual Meeting.

communications committee smThe Board has taken our first step toward resolving communications concerns and has established the HFLA Communication Committee. This committee was formed at the end of August and has already met several times to discuss where we have gaps and provide suggestions as to how we can approve. Our HFLA Communications Committee members are;

Bridgette Anderson (co-chair)
Jennifer Howard
Art Thompson
Nicole Turner (co-chair)

Some of the agenda items the team is working on include:
  • Live broadcast of the Annual Meeting
  • Publishing meeting minutes from monthly meetings of the Board
  • A process to allow residents to present concerns at monthly Board meetings
  • Highland Forest website updates and enhancements
  • Expand the current resident “Meet & Greet” to a more open platform for all residents
We are excited about this step forward and look forward to improving our community through communication. We will continue to roll out committees and requests for participation in the upcoming months.
